MARGIE RHYNE

Margie Rhyne is the Co-Founder and President of E-SOL. Her name is synonymous with the word dedication, having served the needs of her family and the community since the time she was in high school. Ms. Rhyne is the epitome of what a president of a program created to meet the needs of people with disabilities should be. As the mother of a blind and disabled son, she can relate to other parents living and raising a son or daughter with a disability. The E-SOL program was created as a result of Ms. Rhyne refusing to settle for mediocrity, instead insisting upon nothing but the best services and opportunities for her son and many others like him who need a program where they can be safe, comfortable, and supported in their wants and needs.

Ms. Rhyne is an active volunteer at her church and often donates her time and money to many causes. She has served as the president of the parent group of her son's school, and as a member of the P.T.A. She is always willing to take initiative to create and look for solutions to not only her own problems, but problems that others' are facing as well. Ms. Rhyne is thoroughly respected and held in the highest regard by her peers, co-workers, friends, neighbors and family. She has been recognized by the City of Los Angeles for her dedication, hard work, and overall contributions to the community.

Ms. Rhyne is an invaluable member of society and the community is better with her. She has an impeccable reputation for being a person who exemplifies honesty, morals and integrity. She is a proponent of compassion, an instrument of change, and a model of achievement.

MICHAEL STEPHENS

Michael Stephens is the Co-Founder and Treasurer of E-SOL, and he is responsible for many of the day to day advancements and successes of the organization. After serving in the U.S. Army Reserve for four years, Mr. Stephens completed a bachelor's degree in Health Science from California State University, Northridge. Mr. Stephens knows how to motivate the people around him to work together to get things done in a timely fashion. He has consistently demonstrated leadership, and charisma, and personifies dedication, perseverance, reliability, and hard work. Mr. Stephens does not hesitate to take initiative and can be depended upon to see projects through from start to finish.

Mr. Stephens has the personal experience of growing up with a younger brother with special needs. That experience enables him to empathize with the families and parents of children with special needs. As an adolescent, he made a decision to work with children with special needs. As a young man, Mr. Stephens became a Special Education Assistant with the Los Angeles Unified School District, where for ten years he worked with students with a range of disabilities.

Leveraging his life experiences, a calm demeanor and a confidence about him, Mr. Stephens has embraced the opportunity and the challenge to create an environment where children and young adults living with disabilities can flourish and rise to the best of their potential. Mr. Stephens is a college graduate, a Veteran, a father, a husband, and an entrepreneur who has accepted every challenge he has encountered with optimism and integrity. His conviction for the betterment of his community and compassion for humanity are manifested in his everyday life and his blue collar work ethic.

JASON WALKER

Jason Walker is the Co-Founder and Secretary of E-SOL. Mr. Walker earned a degree in Psychology from University of California, Northridge in 1999, and since then has furthered his education by earning a teaching credential in Special Education with an emphasis on students with moderate to severe disabilities. Mr. Walker currently works as a high school special education teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District, and has more than 15 years of experience working with and teaching students with severe disabilities and behaviors.

As an adolescent, and also while attending college, Mr. Walker always knew that he wanted to work with young children and teenagers in some capacity. He has a genuine interest in healthy youth development, true regard for camaraderie in the community, and as a proud father of a daughter, he understands the value of a place where students can go to be safe, while they learn about the essential life and social skills they need to make a successful transition into adulthood.

One of Mr. Walker’s greatest attributes is his unique ability to connect with young people and act as a liaison between children and adolescents and their parents. His patience, empathy, and dedication to improving the quality of life for people living and functioning with disabilities embodies the essence of what E-SOL represents. Since he first set out with his two longtime friends to create a program in the Reseda area that catered to meet the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities, Mr. Walker has continued to work with vigor and determination to see those aspirations come to pass. His strong ties to the community as a good friend, neighbor, teacher, and businessman are illustrative of his determination to persevere in this endeavor.
